Everything on the Line: The High Stakes Career of Curtis Martin

The Catholic Church has used YouTube as a platform to reach people around the world and share the Gospel of Christ. This is in line with the teachings of Saint John Paul II, who called for a New Evangelization that would reach people wherever they were. Catholic YouTube channels offer a wide variety of content, from today’s Gospel to Saints’ novenas, that can help people grow in their faith.

The Catholic Church teaches that all Catholics are called to know, love, and serve God. Catholics are also called to be formed in the Catholic faith in order to respond to our faith and bear witness to Christ in today’s world. Catholics need to share the Love and Forgiveness that God gives us in Christ Jesus with each person, so that the presence of God accompanies them every day and they do not feel alone, sad and without hope.

A Reflection from the video of FOCUS Catholic

Curtis Martin | What’s At Stake? Everything. – Curtis Martin, a Catholic speaker, discusses in his speech titled “What’s at Stake? Everything” the reality that every individual who has ever lived still exists somewhere, and there couldn’t be more at stake. Life, death, and eternal life are what truly matter, and if one doesn’t have Christ, they lose forever. Curtis reflects that if someone has all the fame, glory, success, and wealth and dies without Christ, they still lose. Conversely, if someone doesn’t win any prizes, fame, or glory, but dies with Christ, they win. The speaker wants to discuss the world that is waiting for everyone to come alive, the Here and Now, and the Hereafter. He highlights God’s desire to transform and change individuals, walking with them into other people’s lives, and changing their lives. Curtis offers that God is not concerned with one’s ability, but with one’s availability.

Curtis further addresses the challenge of writing one’s autobiography through the choices they make. He shares an image of his first day in heaven, walking into a wedding feast, and sitting at a table with people he doesn’t know. He then meets Saint Ignatius of Antioch and learns about his life and captivity. Curtis reflects that we have a choice in the story we write, and when we write our autobiography with Christ, it is always a bestseller.

The speaker thanks the college students who have accepted positions with Focus for the following year and potently declares that every year he invites young people onto missions to be radical with Jesus Christ, thanking them for their willingness to take part. He also addresses the non-college students and the elderly, saying that in a very real way, each person is writing their autobiography with the choices they make.

In conclusion, Curtis shows gratitude to the individuals that attended the conference, highlighting Jesus’ words to seek first his kingdom and righteousness and then all else. Through his speech, Curtis inspires individuals to choose Christ and live their lives with him, knowing that there is nothing greater at stake than their eternal life. With a Catholic and reflective approach, Curtis calls individuals to make themselves available for God, allowing him to change and transform their lives, so they too can be agents of change in other people’s lives.
