“Oh Señor, ten piedad de nosotros”

What is Divine Mercy Sunday and how can it help those who need forgiveness and healing in their lives?

The Second Sunday of Easter was named Divine Mercy Sunday by St. John Paul II in 2005. Yet, many individuals who require absolution and restoration fail to grasp what is offered to them and who offers it. Sin blinds the spiritual senses, harms the body and soul, and the longer one procrastinates rectification, the harder it becomes to genuinely comprehend the Lord and His healing. People may have persevered through their struggles to the extent that they are either unaware of their situation, indifferent to it, or believe that they are irreparably flawed, and therefore, become afraid to seek forgiveness.
It is crucial to have a precise perception of Jesus in one’s life. He does not stand above us, gesticulating and chastising as we sin; rather, He stands before us, with His arms outstretched and healing hands, eager to embrace us and reassure us that He is with us, that everything can be all right.
Jesus is waiting for forgiveness-seekers, right here and now. He is pure and wants us to be in communion with Him. It is unnecessary to be perfect in this life, but being contrite, desiring holiness, and being forgiven and healed are necessary.
Make a commitment and give one’s life over to Jesus today by going to the Sacrament of Confession.
