Word on Fire Catholic Ministries is a nonprofit global media apostolate that supports the work of Bishop Robert Barron and reaches millions of people to draw them into— or back to— the Catholic faith.
Word on Fire is evangelical; it proclaims Jesus Christ as the source of conversion and new life.
Word on Fire is Catholic; it utilizes the tremendous resources of the Roman Catholic tradition—art, architecture, poetry, philosophy, theology, and the lives of the saints— in order to explain and interpret the event of Jesus Christ.
Word on Fire Catholic Ministries exists to draw people into the body of Christ, which is the Church, and thereby give them access to all the gifts that Jesus wants his people to enjoy.
To be most effective in this mission, Word on Fire places an emphasis and urgency on the use of contemporary forms of media and innovative communication technologies.
Friends, in February 2023, I had the privilege of speaking to members of Parliament.
Rather than talking about Church-state relations, religious liberty, or the Christian foundations of democracy, I reflected on the presence of the Church in society and her endurance throughout the ages.
Christianity is consistently a powerful cultural force—why is that?

Bishop Barron began proclaiming Christ to the culture by broadcasting his homilies on WGN radio, then the largest station in Chicago.
It was a great start, but it was only reaching out to Chicagoans who were up at 5:15am on Sundays and listening to the radio!
Since the homilies were pre-recorded, Bishop Barron responded to the encouragement of a friend and began hosting all the homilies on a website.
From there, as people could access the homilies anytime, anywhere, Word on Fire grew.
It was a simple yet powerful idea: spread the Good News of Jesus Christ across multiple media platforms, engaging people with the goodness, truth, and beauty of Catholicism.
Today, Word on Fire reaches millions each year by effectively sharing the gospel through podcasts, videos, books, articles, scripture studies, and gospel meditations.
Word on Fire digs deep to reveal what it means to truly encounter Christ by proclaiming the universality of the Catholic faith that is both ancient and ever new, reaching beyond country borders, background, or person.

Our story is proof that all it takes is a spark to set the world on fire. This is the Word on fire.
